What do Chemical Peels achieve?

This is one of our most requested services because it is the most effective to address the most common skin conditions including premature aging and acne.

When we are young, skin cells turn over every 20-24 days resulting in healthy vibrant skin; however as we age this process slows down to greater than 50 days resulting in a dull, tired appearance. Chemical peels stimulate cell turn-over to give back that radiant refreshed look.

What are the different type of chemical peels?

The chemical peels that are available include multivitamin peels, hydroxy acid combination peels, (glycolic, salicylic, lactic, mandeleic acids),including Obagi Radiance peel and multiple TCA peels. Your skin specialist will determine the right peel for your needs.

What should I expect after my Chemical Peel treatment?

After the treatment your skin will feel warm and will have mild redness. You can return to normal activity, however exercise, sweating, sauna are discouraged. Most peels require to stay on the skin for a minimum of 8 hours and are slow self neutralizing peels. A home regimen will be recommended by the physician or medical aesthetician. Sunblock, minimum of SPF 30, should be used daily after treatment.

What are the contraindications of this treatment?

Chemical peels are contraindicated during summer months. Pregnant or lactating women should not be treated. Patients with prior use of Accutane/Roaccutan within 6 month period should not be treated. Topical prescription creams should be discontinued 5-7 prior to treatment.

 Treatment time: 30-45 minutes
